Small block CHEVY engine ID question

1969 Camaro,
Greetings all,when did Chevy stop painting their engines ORANGE?When did the engine stamping pad go from WIDE and NARROW to SQUARED and SMALLER?When did CHEVY start painting their engines BLUE?I also have a CANADIAN built engine in my 1972 Vega.The block stamping says K1002PHC/10054721.Anyone know where to find info on the Canadian engine?What can you tell me?Thanks

Stop orange 1980 ? Blue 1981 ? pad wide 1985-6 ? as for stamped numbers they are tracked down in factory service manuals for the specific year of engine manufacture.

Chevy stopped painting their engines orange in 1974. The engine stamping pad changed from wide and narrow to squared and smaller around the same time. Chevy started painting their engines blue in the late 1980s. For information on your Canadian-built engine, you might want to check enthusiast forums or contact a Chevrolet heritage center.
