Hey all, just started restoring a 1976 Chevy Camaro. Previous owner thought it had the 350, but that's definitely not the case. Casting numbers indicate a 396/402, suffix says this was in a Chevy truck, but the oil pan isn't longer like it was in a truck, and then there's the Corvette logo on the valve cover. This thing has been heavily modified (car was being used for drag racing) and I'm wondering what I might be dealing with? Any information would be great.
Casting number is 3969854.
Number opposite the casting number on the rear of the engine is GM 7
Number on the side of the block looks like A 12 70
Number on the front of the engine, underneath the alternator is T0610TBG
Number on the front side of the valve is hard to tell. Maybe 8488? 3488?
