Hi , have a 350 ? in my 1968 camaro ( not original engine) , just trying to work out what it is was out off.

Casting block # 3970010 - GM , also i can make out the #25 in quite large font on the side.

Engine stamp at the front pad - V1029CKD ( maybe 1972,73,74, or 77) but don't know what the suffix CKD stand for.
Also on the stamp is 14R411617.

Any help would be appreciated , cheers

Well, you got all the right numbers here to identify your engine!
:)
So, let's see what we got here;

Block Casting Number - 3970010; 1969 - 1979, 1969 = 302 cid, 290 HP, 4 bolt main, 1969 - 1979, 350 cid, 145, 165, 175, 200, 245, 250, 255, 270, 295, 300, 330, 360, 370 HP, 2 & 4 bolt main.

Engine Assembly Number - V1029CKD; V = Flint (engine plant), 1029 = date code, October 29, CKD = Engine Suffix Code, (often reused, this particular one, CKD, was used 4 times, 1972, 1973, 1974 & 1977, yours is a '74 from the Partial Engine VIN (see below), 350 cid, Turbo350 transmission, 4 bbl, HP is not listed, but probably 200, used in Bodies, A (Chevelle), B (Bel-Air, Impala, Caprice), F (Camaro), X (Nova).

Partial Engine VIN Code - 14R411617; 1 = Chevy, 4 = 1974, R = Arlington (TX) car assembly plant, 411617 - partial VIN of the vehicle.

The Arlington plant historically has made B Body Caprice, Impala and G Body Monte Carlo, but in 1974, this engine was more than likely put in an Impala or Caprice.
The Engine Suffix Code (see above) usually identifies the car the engine was used in, but this engine and code was used in a lot of vehicles (see the casting number and Engine Suffix Code above).

That was a pretty good one!!
Thanks for posting and I hope some of this is of some help to you!
:D
