Help decoding engine please

Greetings,

I have a 69 chevelle with a 350 (pretty sure) in it that is not original. I have located some engine numbers but have been unsuccessful in breaking down the unique numbers.

The rear block casting on drivers side is 3970010
The passenger side head plate reads
top- V08D9TK
Bottom C68181098

I have gotten a pretty good look at the numbers and the only one I am unsure of is the "D" it may be a "0" or "O"

I have come up with Flint engine and truck I believe. If it helps they are camel hump heads but may not even be from the block originally either.

My information indicates that your engine is originally from a 1978 Pontiac and is a 305 cubic inch, 145 HP with a 2 bbl carb and option code LG-3. It was quite common for other GM manufacturers to use Chevrolet engines. Please feel free to stick around and contribute to other posts if possible, or explore any interested information.

I had found the TK in the head stamp decoded to the 305 on NastyZ28. It didn't make sense with the other numbers to me. The block ID 3970010 is either a 1968 327 or a 69-79 350 according to the same site. In your decoding did that make sense to you with the other numbers on the head?

boopl, According to my suffix decoding, the TK shows to be the 305, but according to the block casting numbers, it can be either a 302, 327 or 350. Out of the 4 engines, they are similar in appearance only. The 305 and 350 both have the same stroke crankshaft. The 302 (which I strongly feel you don't have) 327 and 350 all have the same bore of 4.000". Their crank stroke is 3.00", 3.25", and 3.48" respectively.
I will be the first to tell you that I am not a big fan of engine decoding unless I believe it to be a very rare engine that is worth some $$$$. To me, the engine numbers are of most concern to someone that is restoring a car to all matching numbers. An all matching number car means nothing to me personally. I am more concerned with the cubic inch of the engine and what I can do with it.
