ENGINE BLOCK SUFFIX NUMBER HELP

I have what I think is a 283.. could be a 327. It is in my '63 nova convertable SS and I know that some of the 6 cyl were switched out at dealers and some say that there were actually some put in at the factory. I think that this is a swap by the owner of the car. :mrgreen:

Help please. the suffix number is FO30IWE.

F0301WE - F = Flint plant (Engine Assembly Plant), 0301 = March 1 (date code of assembly), WE (Engine Suffix Code) = 1965, 283 cid, M/t, 175 HP, 2 bolt, C-10 to 25, or, 1968, 307 cid, Powerglide, 200 HP, 2 bolt, C-10

Engine Suffix Codes (in your case, WE) are often reused.
