I seem to have a rogue set of heads and contradictory block stamp. The car is a 56 Chevy, 210, I got from a cousin who had the engine lock up in 1971, and has been that way until now. The casting number on the block is 3703524 which decodes to a 1955, 265, however the assembly stamp at the front of the right side head is F55E. I know that decodes to Flint, 1955, but the suffix "E" decodes as a 1957 283. Personally I think the assembling technician grabbed the wrong stamp and that it should be coded as "F", which would be correct according to the casting number.
The other head scratcher are the heads installed, by looking at the front casting they are four barrel heads, and it does have a four barrel carb and intake. The intake casting is 3837109 and decodes as a 56-57, 265/283, 4 barrel, with a Carter AFB.
The heads casting numbers are 3773013 and I haven't found a date cast on the heads. I have yet to find any info regarding the heads, via the casting numbers. Any help on identifying the heads would be great. Thanks.
