chevy engine casting #

I need some help figuring out exactly what block this originally came out of.
It's currently in a 90' camaro.

casting #-14010207
Numbers on each side of the block above the oil pain rails- A207
the number '45' is adjacent to the casting number
'S' is on the passenger side of the block at the back where the casting # is.

That's all I can find right now.
I appreciate the help in advance.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting.
The Block Casting Number you posted decodes like this - 14010207 - 1980 -1985, 350 cid, Car & Truck, 2 & 4-Bolt Main

If you'll look on the front of the block, passenger side, just under the head, you should see a raised pad.
On that pad should be hand stamped, two numbers;
The Engine Partial VIN, it would look like this - 13N132794
The Engine Assembly Code, it would look like this - V0112CLJ
These code numbers are hand stamped and can be lightly stamped and hard to see.
These are the numbers that tell all about the engine.
Also, they can be obscured by paint, dirt and grease.
Usually, a through cleaning with solvent, a wire brush and a rag will display the full numbers, unless it had been damaged by previous work.

If you'll check that passenger side front pad, possibly clean it a little, you should be able to get the full numbers.
Please post them and we'll try to get more info on your engine.

The numbers I posted were 'examples', of the numbers I think you should find on your engine, in the location stated.

If you have such numbers on your engines, please post them here in this thread and I'll try to help figure out the history of your engine.


Let me know if you've find any number on the front passenger side of your engine.
