Block identification

I have a 67 Chevelle SS 396 with what I believe to be a 427 block in it. The motor is still in the car but will be pulling it out this weekend. The only numbers I found was 457682575 stamped on the front drivers side of the block. Can anyone give me some info on it? Thanks a lot

The number on the back of the block on the driver side is 3963512.

The other number on the back of the block on the passenger side is L17 70

Welcome to the forum. Hopefully you will become a frequent member and aid in answering questions for others. Feel free to jump in on any area that you have knowledge in give your .02 cents.

The casting number 3963512 shows as two possibilities.
(1) 427 1969, 2 or 4 bolt main.
(2) 454 1970-1976, 2 or 4 bolt main.

I don't have any information on the other numbers you have. Check beside the casting number on the drivers rear of the block and see if there is another number such as GMX.XL (X being numerical digits)
