I have a 73 Vette. I have motor running. Please help ID the motor, it does not match the car serial number. Block cast 28GM 3970010. Is this Feb 78, 350? Serial number looks like CFA124696, not really clear possibly CEA124696.

OK, from what I can find any engine beginning with the Suffix Code CE was a factory replacement or warranty engine, or possibly purchased over the counter. No numbers on the block will indicate or match the VIN. The only thing I can tell you is the casting number on the block indicates it is a 350, either 2 or 4 bolt main.
