Hello, My friend has a 327 block that he was going to build for his 68 Camaro(instead he built a 402)
So, it's gathering dust in his garage, and I want to find out what's so "Special" about this block.
The main block casting is 3782870...
The date casting code is E 115...or, May 11, 1965
The pour daisy reads, 0900/1000h...poured probably at the end of the morning shift...
The front pad is stamped...F0513HA...or, Flint May 13, 1965... for A/F/X body.
There is no VIN stamped as you would usually find if the block were factory installed in a vehicle...
On the back of block is the word "SPECIAL" cast in letters about 1/4"

This code is cast adjacent to "SPECIAL"...in this manner...H23 872
S 852
Has anyone ever seen "SPECIAL" cast on a block?
Here's an extremely crappy photo

Not sure about the special, but it's a 65 327/250hp block with manual trans out of an Impala
