I just bought a 1973 Chevy Cheyenne Super 10 pickup, but not sure what engine is in it.
The truck's VIN is: CCY143F40776
On the machined pad on the driver's side, behind and below the alternator, there are 2 numbers stamped there:
V0326SXA
1ER205096
According to what I have found online, the top number is the engine ID# and designates: "V"=Flint, Mi., "03"=March, "26"=26th day of the month, "SXA"=1984 Monte Carlo SS 305ci, 190 hp, 4bbl.
I have no idea what the bottom number is. It's not a casting number, so I don't know what it is there for.
Anyone who can shed light on the exact year and size of this engine, and what that other number on the pad is, please let me know. I need to buy some parts for the engine and would like to make sure what engine I have first.
Thank you!
Ray
