SBC engine with last 4 casting numbers 9817

The engine in my corvette has the last 4 casting numbers 9817. I don't know if it's a 283 or 327, is there another way to identify the displacement, without pulling the heads?

The harmonic balancer on a 283 is just a flange (pulley mount) where on the 327 it is a small damper.

If the motor original to the car u could check the build sheet , RPO numbers ....
