I purchased 1948 plymouth on a auction and was told it has a corvette 327 engine in it that is stuck. Trying to verifiy what this engine is and if it is worth having it rebuilt. Casting # driver side back 3782870, Casting Date passanger back C782, & Engine stamp vin sequence front passanger side FO3I4R. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

With that casting number of 3782870, my sources show it as a 62-67, 327, car or truck, with 2 bolt mains. The engine stamp breaks it down a little further F = Flint, 0314 = March 14 assembly date, and R = 1962, 327, with manual transmission and air conditioning in a full size car. If it were from a Corvette the code would be RC, RD, RE, or RF. Hope this helps.

Thanks Zsparkman that helps alot at least I know what year and that it's not a corvette engine. Now just hope that it can be unstuck and not cost a fortune to rebuild. Again Thanks for the info.
