Well, Bill, people do look at this stuff and people do know!
But some times, people get sick and don't feel like getting online and answering peoples questions and sometimes people get busy at work and don't have time to get on line to answer peoples questions!
Now, about your fuelie heads;
1966 - 1967, 302 cid, 290 HP, 2.02"I/1.6"E, 63cc chambers
1964 - 1968, 327 cid, 250, 275, 300 HP, 1.94"I/1.5"E, 63cc chambers
1964 - 1968, 327 cid, 325, 350 HP, 2.02"I/1.6"E, 63cc chambers
1967 - 1968, 350 cid, 295 HP, 1.94"I/1.5"E, 63cc chambers
So, I guess to find out exactly what size the valves are in your heads, you have to pull one head off and measure them!

I apologize for delay in response!
Had a busy couple of weeks leading up to Christmas!
Now, the actual valve sizes, there's like a 0.080" difference in the Intake valves and 0.100" difference in the Exhaust.
May or may not make a real difference, in the big picture of things.
About the valve seats, I don't know of a way to tell if they are hardened or standard cast.
Possibly, a call to an auto machine shop, an engine rebuild shop, they should be able to tell you if there is a method to tell by looking.
Good luck with your build!

Bill,

Curious if you found out anything? There is no one on this site that is full-time to answer questions. We are all volunteers that are here to try and help out people that contact us.
From what I see your heads, (3890462....66-67...302/327/350..Camel hump, no accessory holes, 64cc chamber) can be found on pretty much anything from an early model 302, 327, or 350. That being said, the 302 and 350 were not in production for the public during those years. That pretty much leaves the 327 Cu In.

Now, the double hump (or camel hump) heads were used on the 327/300 HP, 350HP and 375 HP. Being the double hump, they are definitely high performance heads. As ChevyHiPro said, there is no way to tell for sure of the valve size. They are either 2.02/1.6 or 1.94/1.5. Both were considered high performance for the years. When I was MUCH younger, we could look at the valves and if it looked like the thickness of a dollar bill between the valves, they were definitely the 2.02 heads.

As for the valve seats, unless they have been changed, obviously they are not hardened. All I can say is to look closely at the head bolts to see if you can see any marks or tell-tale signs of the engine being apart. Any way you look at it, they were highly sought after heads in their day.

Please feel free to come back and visit the forum as it has changed from earlier days. We are trying to change the forum to include engine builds, chassie mods, transmission recommendations, rear end builds, body work, street rods and any other topic you would like to recommend. If you have something that you would like to add or see a discussion about, or some kind of technical information you would like to share, please come back and give us a yell.
