Casting and stamped id

I could use help with identifying a small block chevy I bought in an old Ford. The guy who built the car passed years ago and his son knew nothing and did not care what was used to build. The casting number looks like 8870010 but the first 2 numbers are hard to read. The stamped number is a little more.difficult to explain and I'm having a hard time loading pics but it looks like /1296CMA.
