Putting a 350, I hope, into my old cj and like everyone esle, can't figure out what I've actually got.
#'s I have, v0602cl. flint, june, 2nd day, cl- ?. GM 3970010. 350 or 327, one web site says cl is actually a 283, hope not. Not what I paid for. Other # 175(or s)245922. Tore the engine down and it has been bored .30 over. Head gasket was leaking is why I tore it down. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

That's what I found for "CL" as well - '60-'63 283 from Chevy Impala - which is confusing, because the casting No. (3970010) only includes 302, 327, and 350's. Is it possible you've not cleaned the block enough to clearly see and verify your numbers?

I ask only because some suffix codes are three letters long starting with CL, and include 305's and 350's... for instance, CLA includes Corvette 350's.

CLL = '73 & '77 350 (no vehicle info listed)

Both fit in the year range according to casting no.

That V0602CLL number is your assembly date. Find your casting date to narrow down which year it is. That number is in the same spot as your casting no. (3970010), but on the passenger side. That number will have an alphanumeric code with the last digit being the year within the decade it was cast.

For ex.: mine is L 02 3. L is 12th letter of alphabet corresponding to 12th month - December.

"02" is second day - Dec. 2nd.

"3" means 'X3, or '?3; could be Dec, 2nd '63, '73,'83.

You've got to use all the other info to narrow it down. For instance if yours happened to be the same, that would narrow you down to the '73 350 motor.
