i have a 1999 chevy suburban that the fuel pump works on and it won't start unless you pour a little bit of gas into the throttle body. if you do that it will run all day as long as you do not shut it off. does any one have any ideas?

i found out what it was!!!!!!! some back woods "mechanic" decided that they didn't need the new in tank fuel pump when the old one went out so they cut part of the fuel line between the fuel filter and the fuel tank so that they could put a mr. gasket co. 4-7 lb in line fuel pump to run the truck on.

Since you have a 1999 Burb, and you are "dumping" fuel down the t-body, I'm going to assume that you have a Vortec 350 L#! GEN 1E engine. You require 60-66 psi of fuel pressure. I'd bet you arent getting taht, you need a fuel pump if you dont hear it run aafter you turn teh key to teh run position.
