If you can help that would be great.

Neither of those casting numbers are the date codes. The date codes are usually found on the back of the block, near the bellhousing mounts. If you provide both the casting number and the date code, I can tell you the year of the engine.

What you provided is the stamping numbers, on the front pads.

From the numbers you've included;
V1028TWZ - is the Engine Assembly Code; V = Flint, 10 = October, 28 = 28th day (of October), TWZ is the Engine Suffix Code = 1978, 4 bbl, 350 cid, 165 hp, K10 - 25 (K is the designation for a 4wheel drive vehicle, Pickup, Blazer, or Suburban).
C8A122052 - is the Engine Partial VIN Number - C = Chevy, 8 = 1978, A= either Lansing or Atlanta, GA (assembly plant), 122052 = to match the Vehicle VIN.
:)
So, from these numbers, your engine is a 1978, 350, 165 hp.

I hope this information helps some.
Good luck with your project!

From the number you've posted;
Engine Assembly Number - T0405DTW
Partial Engine VIN - 19K551101

We can determine;
Engine Assembly Number - T0405DTW; T = Tonawanda (assembly plant), 04 - April, 05 - 5th (day of April), DTW = Engine Suffix Code, a little trouble here, I checked several data bases and did not find the DTW Engine Suffix Code listed, I did find an Engine Suffix Code DWT, here's the info on it, 1983, 305 cid, TBI, 165 hp, Firebird.

Partial Engine VIN - 19K551101 - 1 = Chevy, 9 = 1979, K = St Catherines, Ontario (McKinnon Industries Canada) (assembly plant), 551101 = matches VIN Serial Number.

So, this one is a little peculiar!
:o
The discrepancy is based in the Engine Suffix Code, it would be helpful if you could double check it, to be sure there isn't a typo in the code.

I am hopeful some of this is helpful!
